Metro Detroit weather: Wet, gloomy start to week

Today will be the warmest and windiest day of the week, and it’s not all that warm. We will see highs in the low 50s, a couple of degrees shy of average for early November, but the winds make it feel a few degrees cooler SW 10-20 mph, gusting 25-35 mph at times shaking around those garbage cans.

A few showers will still try and work through the area keeping us mostly cloudy mainly with spotty drizzle here and there through the rest of the afternoon and evening. It will be on the cool side overnight dipping down into the mid and upper 30s.

Tuesday forecast

Election Day around Metro Detroit will not be perfect, but it will also be very bearable with just a couple of hiccups. Morning lows in the mid to upper 30s will feel sub-freezing due to a lingering breeze, so make sure you’ve got the thicker coats tomorrow.

We should see a mix of some sunshine and times of only partly sunny skies. That pesky breeze is lighter, but highs in the mid 40s will feel cooler all day. Those winds W 7-17 mph, gusting 20-25 mph at times will drag a little bit of moisture from Lake Michigan and bring a few very light rain and/or snow showers which again shouldn’t really impact your ability to get out and vote.

Wednesday, Thursday forecast

A storm will be on our doorstep early Wednesday and model data suggests parts of our West and North Zones will get a little light snow to get the day going. We will have temps in the 20s as you head out in the morning, and then struggle to get back into the lower 40s.

Another wave of snow and/or wintry mix will move in Late Wednesday into early Thursday.

Thursday starts near 30F and finishes near 40F with some spotty mix coming and going, but the more impactful snow and mix will be to our south which could impact travel in parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania if anybody is heading that way Thursday.

Friday forecast

Friday and Saturday morning lows will be the coolest air of the season in the low 20s, with sun Friday and dry conditions Saturday before another shot at snow and/or mixed precipitation early Sunday.
