Metro Detroit weather: Chilly weekend

Steady temps in the mid 30s all day Friday

DETROIT – Happy Friday, Motown!

After Thursday rain, sunshine returns with chilly air running on a brisk northwesterly wind.

The weekend will be dry with slightly higher temps. Tricky weather returns just in time for big travel before Thanksgiving.

Friday morning goes from mostly cloudy to partly cloudy before dawn. A chilly rush of air rides on a west-northwesterly wind. Temps start in the low and mid 30s and will prompt students and workers to grab their winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves to stay warm.

Sunrise is at 7:32 a.m. ET.

Friday afternoon becomes sunny but remains chilly. Kids can enjoy outdoor recess and outdoor after-school activities, but they’ll still need their winter gear. Motorists will have a dry ride home, but will need their sunglasses if headed west.

Sunset is at 5:06 p.m. ET.

Weekend weather

Grab your favorite Detroit Pistons coat and knit hat outside Little Caesars Arena. The Atlanta Hawks are visiting for a 7:00 p.m. ET game. Skies will be clear, Friday evening.

Friday night will be clear and cold. Remember to bring your pets indoors as overnight lows fall to the middle and upper 20s.

Saturday will have a mix of clouds and sunshine. It will be chilly with slightly higher temps in the low 40s.

Sunday will be partly sunny and chilly, too. Highs in the low 40s, again.

Thanksgiving week

Clouds increase, Monday. Daytime temps will be near 45 degrees.

Tuesday and travel day, Wednesday, will be cloudy and cool with showers arriving. Morning temps will be in the middle 30s, and afternoon temps will be in the middle and upper 40s each day.
