Metro Detroit weather: Struggling to see sunshine on Thanksgiving

DETROIT – Happy Thanksgiving from your Local 4Casters!

We have low clouds looming over Metro Detroit as we get going early on your Thursday.

Temps are in the upper 40s to low 50s and we will have spotty drizzle and patchy dense fog through about 7 a.m. The low clouds will be the most stubborn part of the forecast all day and you can expect low visibility from fog through 10-11 a.m., so be extra careful as you head over the hills and through the woods this morning.

Conditions will be fine but barely improve during America’s Thanksgiving Parade only on Local 4 News right now!

We will struggle to see much if any holiday sunshine today staying overcast with low cloudiness and that will keep highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and a breeze SW 5-15 gusting 15-22 mph. Skies will remain mostly cloudy overnight into early Friday when we will only see minimal improvements.

Sunset is at 5:04 p.m.

We start Black Friday with temps in the upper 30s under mostly cloudy skies. If we could only manage a little more sun, highs would take off into the 50s and 60s. Instead, we get more gloomy sky conditions with an occasional break to partly sunny at times and highs again in the upper 40s to low 50s with winds WSW 5-11 mph. There’s a weak disturbance moving through late in the day, but it’s a dry front which shouldn’t produce any wet weather and will knock weekend temps down just a little bit.

Small Business Saturday will be a beauty around Metro Detroit after a chilly start below freezing. Look for lots of sun mixed with a few clouds and highs in the mid to upper 40s. Sunday will be similar with sun and clouds and upper 40s to near 50F. Monday looks like a near miss, but a wintry mix will be on the way Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
