Air Quality Alert for Metro Detroit Wednesday

Temperatures will reach mid 80s

By Brandon Roux - Meteorologist, Segment Reporter/Producer

DETROIT - We have an Air Quality Alert a.k.a. Ozone Action Day for Metro Detroit for the second day in a row. That means it will be a hot hump day with highs in the mid to upper 80s and slightly more humidity. The sun and heat can create a dangerous ozone chemical making it hard for many to breath well on days like today. So while it will simply be a beautiful summer sizzler for most of you, others will have difficulty spending too much time outdoors. Limit your activities if possible and if not, take lots of breaks and drink lots of water. There is a chance for a few isolated showers between 4pm and 7pm this afternoon/evening but most of us will stay dry.

A cold front is on its way through Michigan on Thursday. You can expect scattered showers and storms tomorrow morning and a better chance again in the afternoon. Just keep your eyes to the skies as the front pushes through Thursday. Highs tomorrow will be in the low 80s before we cool off for a few days.
