Metro Detroit weather forecast: Another hot one in the 80s

Let’s get ready for another hot one around Metro Detroit with Tuesday morning temps in the upper 50s to mid 60s or warmer as you head out under mostly clear skies.

High pressure is going to try to keep us stable and dry today, but a few of our western suburbs and those living closer to the Ohio Border may see a few late day showers. Temps are going to heat up into the mid and upper 80s this afternoon under partly cloudy skies and the humidity is up just a little today making it feel even warmer with winds WSW 5-10 mph.

The air will feel a bit more tropical Wednesday as the humidity leaps into uncomfortable territory creating a warm, muggy, and unstable day with a good chance for scattered afternoon rain and thunderstorms. A cool front moves through as a spark for a few afternoon storms that could produce some isolated heavy downpours and dangerous lightning. Highs will likely stop in the low and mid 80s due to increased cloud cover and rain chances, but it should be a pretty warm and steamy day regardless.

It looks like the stronger storm chances come late Thursday into early Friday. Still, a few scattered afternoon showers on Thursday, warming into the low or mid 80s. The models hold off the heavier rains until late in the day or even night, carrying into early Friday. This is another timeframe we need to watch for strong to severe weather as the Storm Prediction Center has placed SE Lower Michigan under a Marginal (very weak) Risk for severe weather Thursday… stay tuned. Some wet weather may linger through the morning Friday. You can track temperatures and humidity heading up and showers that may be coming down with our Local4Casters app.
