Metro Detroit weather forecast: Cold front this afternoon

A cool and breezy start to your Tuesday around Metro Detroit with temps in the upper 30s to low 40s and wind chills in the mid 20s to low 30s.

Mostly sunny skies and the warm winds SW 10-20 mph will help us all warm to near 50 degrees in the early afternoon. But, clouds do fill in and a cold front will race through this afternoon bringing light rain after 3 or 4 p.m. moving northwest to southeast across Southeastern Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario.

This is a 1-2 hour window for showers and a few wet snowflakes possible in our North Zone. The cool air and winds behind this front may produce some scattered snow showers this evening with no accumulation expected.

A much different and cooler air mass pour in for the mid and end of the week around Southeastern Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. We will get the sun back Wednesday, but highs will hang in the mid to upper 30s through the afternoon with lighter winds WNW 5-12 mph.

Thanksgiving Day right now looks dry, but we’ll need a couple of layers for America’s Thanksgiving Parade. We will be waking up Thursday in the mid to upper 20s in the suburbs and likely the low 30s downtown.  It looks like a dry Turkey Day with milky skies or partly sunny and highs in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.

Black Friday shoppers start cool in the 20s to low 30s, and then warming back into the mid 40s with a nice mix of sun and clouds. We may get a few rain showers Friday evening and overnight but it will be a mostly dry weekend. Saturday temps should stay in the mid 40s, but colder Sunday only in the mid 30s with some lake effect snow showers mainly in our North Zone.
