Cooler temps fall over Metro Detroit going into the weekend

Highs in the low 70s

DETROIT – A cold front passed through this morning with very little impact on sky conditions and temps are very pleasant in the low 60s as you head out and about to start your Thursday.

Skies will go from partly sunny this morning to mostly sunny at times this afternoon and high temps only in the low 70s as the winds behind the front keep us on the cooler side of normal blowing N 5-15 mph gusting over 20 mph at times.

Friday forecast

Friday morning brings a cool start across Metro Detroit with lows dipping down into the 40s for most of our Detroit suburbs and we’ll see and feel similar conditions Saturday morning. Friday brings bright sunshine, yet we will struggle to warm and you can expect temps in the 60s most of the day and maxing out near 70 degrees with winds NE 5-15 mph.

Weekend forecast

Saturday may be a little warmer than Friday, but a milky, overcast sky will give a dull look to the day after a cool start. The high clouds streaming in will not bring rain but they are clouds from former Hurricane Harvey. Models earlier this week had rain coming in Sunday from Harvey, but now those models keep that rain to our south and east. We instead watch a quick disturbance racing through from the northwest and a few showers Sunday morning. Weekend temps should be well into the 70s even with the high clouds Saturday and then closer to 80 degrees Sunday.

Labor Day forecast

Labor Day is a tough one to forecast, but we do expect dry conditions with low 80s likely Monday. Showers may move in at night into early Tuesday and we will let you know if the rain advances and poses any threat to your Holiday BBQ.
