DETROIT – Clouds over the area this morning with some patchy fog and very mild temps in the mid 60s to low 70s as you head out.
Get ready for another very warm and muggy day with highs in the upper 80s, feeling more like the low 90s when you factor in the higher humidity. Skies will be cloudy to partly sunny making our chances for seeing the partial solar eclipse a bit lower.
At about 2 p.m., skies will be partly sunny, so with a few breaks we will see some of the eclipse which officially starts around 2:27 p.m. today here in Metro Detroit. There is a chance for scattered rain and thundershowers with the heat of the afternoon, but the severe threat will be to our west today.
Tuesday forecast
More showers and storms tonight into Tuesday as a cool front approaches and we should see some decent downpours. Skies are cloudy tomorrow with a few rounds of wet weather and highs only in the low 80s. We do have a Marginal Risk for severe storms tomorrow in the afternoon hours with the main threat being damaging winds. Keep an eye to the skies and remember some of these soakers could bring some minor flooding making travel conditions difficult at times. The winds will kick up too SW 10-20 mph gusting even stronger at times.
Wednesday forecast
Wednesday will be noticeably cooler and should go from mostly cloudy to partly cloudy with temps in the 70s. Winds will shift WNW 7-12 mph and again, more and more sunshine into the afternoon and early evening. These cooler conditions last through the rest of the week and weekend in the mid to upper 70s and sunny mid to late Wednesday through Sunday.
