Heat advisory extended through 8 p.m. Friday

DETROIT – Unbearably hot and humid conditions continue across southeast Michigan, and relief won't arrive until during the day on Saturday. Until then, look for daytime highs in the low to mid 90s, with the humidity making if feel like 100 degrees, or even a little hotter. Here are some 3pm temperatures and heat indices:

City Temp Heat Index

Detroit 94° 102°

Pontiac 92° 100°

Livonia 94° 102°

Troy 95° 100°

Sterling Heights 93° 102°

Grosse Ile 91° 102°

Dearborn 92° 103°

Ann Arbor 90° 103°

Adrian 90° 99°

Howell 92° 101°

Monroe 93° 104°

Port Huron 91° 102°

Compounding the problem is overnight lows in the 70s, which means that temps are still in the 80s with heat indices near 90 when most of us are (trying) to go to bed. By the way, we have now broken a Detroit temperature record during this heat wave. Yesterday's low of 77 degrees was the warmest low temperature ever for July 16th, breaking the old record of 76 which had stood the test of time since 1887.
