Metro Detroit weather: Chance of temperatures in 50s

Mostly dry conditions this week

DETROIT – Temperatures are flirting with 50 degrees Monday afternoon, but we might actually get there by the close of business tomorrow.

On Monday night, mainly clear skies will allow temperatures to drop to the low and mid-30s. Winds will stay high through the night at 15-25 mph. Gusts could approach 40 mph during the evening.

Clouds will increase Tuesday. Even with less sunshine, temperatures should touch 50 degrees in spots by afternoon. Windy conditions will remain, and there might be a widely scattered shower on the eastside as a cold front approaches.

Temperatures will take a step back Wednesday. Morning numbers will start in the 20s and rise only to the mid-30s by afternoon. It will be coming with plenty of sunshine, so the biggest bar night of the year will be dry and cold, with temperatures below freezing through the evening and in the 20s overnight.

Thanksgiving Thursday will remain dry, with below-average temperatures. America’s Thanksgiving Parade, presented by Art Van, will kick off with temperatures near the freezing mark, rising to the low 40s in the afternoon after a big Lions win, of course.

We’ll be closer to normal for Black Friday. Temperatures still start below freezing at dawn, warming to the mid-40s by afternoon.

Traveling through most of the country should be a piece of cake (weather-wise, at least). After Tuesday’s cold front moves through, high pressure will dominate most of the 48 contiguous states for the remainder of the week. Look for some wet weather near the coasts if you’re heading in that direction after the holiday.
