Metro Detroit weather: Another nice fall day, but changes on horizon

Strong cold front brings rain this weekend

DETROIT – It's the old "no news, is good news" philosophy from your Local4Casters as our stretch of beautiful weather continues.

What a wonderful Wednesday around Metro Detroit, with sunshine and only a handful of clouds bringing high temperatures in that familiar category of upper 60s to low 70s with light winds ENE 5-10 mph and no problems at all through the evening hours.

It will be cool enough overnight tonight to bring patchy fog back heading into tomorrow morning.

Thursday forecast

We will see patchy fog through about 8 or 9 a.m. Thursday as morning lows cool down into the mid and upper 40s for most of SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario.

We will see a very gentle warm up Thursday and Friday, and you might not even notice it Thursday.

Highs will hit the low 70s yet again, with only a few extra clouds as an indicator that humidity is creeping up.

Friday forecast

Friday is a dry day, although we'll be fending off showers all day that might scatter in parts of Western Michigan to end the work and school week.

Again, a few degrees warmer and a few more clouds blowing through Friday, but we'll hold off the showers until Saturday as we away a significant change just in time for your weekend.

Weekend outlook

A strong cold front will first bring rain early Saturday, and then a noticeable change to your temps. Weekend rain will stay with us through the morning hours Saturday as temps fall from the lower 60s early, to and through the 50s all day.

The winds will start cranking too, but the showers are gone by 9am Saturday and we should see a balance of sun and clouds the rest of the weekend really.

Gusty winds will make 50s feel like 40s Saturday, while air temps settle in the 40s to mid-50s Sunday around Metro Detroit feeling colder with the cool breeze.

Don't be surprised if we see a few flakes flying in Central and Northern Michigan this weekend.
