Metro Detroit weather forecast: Cool start then clear skies with warming temps

DETROIT – A frosty start around Metro Detroit, so you may need the ice scraper as you head out to the car.

The ground is still warm enough to avoid a lot of frost on the surfaces, but cold enough for frost on the windshield. Clear skies all day today with a few areas of high clouds. Morning temps in the 20s to low 30s will warm quickly with the sunshine into the mid 50s with light winds S 5-10 mph.

Friday starts dry and not as cold with some high clouds streaming in. It will be in the upper 30s to low 40s early with partly sunny skies becoming overcast mid morning. Highs will head for 60 degrees despite the increasing clouds and rain showers will be coming in ahead of schedule. Look for scattered showers coming up from the southwest between 3-5pm. It should be a wet evening around many parts of Metro Detroit with rain lingering through the overnight.

Shower chances hang on for the first half of Saturday, which means it should be mostly dry for the big noon game at the Big House in Ann Arbor. We cannot rule out an isolated shower, but most of the rain is moving east. Rainy for tailgating and cool upper 40s through the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Sunday looks like a similarly cool day in the 40s with a lake effect shower or two in the afternoon, although most of the day does look dry.

The Halloween forecast is also unclear with one model keeping things cool on Monday and Tuesday with a wintry mix possible in spots Monday, and a few cool showers possible Tuesday. Both days early next week will only be in the 40s with breezy conditions and spotty showers. Not the best outlook, but something we’ve become used to.
