Metro Detroit weather forecast: Morning rain and afternoon sun across SE Michigan

DETROIT – Morning showers and drizzle to start your Friday morning, but dry weather is on tap for most of the day.

The roads are a bit slippery as you head out before 6am or 7am as the heavier showers are shifting east. Morning temps are dropping quickly after the passage of a cold front leaving us in the low and mid 40s early on. The afternoon brings sunshine mixed with some cloud cover through the day and highs heading back into the low and mid 50s this afternoon. It will be cool, but dry for Friday Football Frenzy tonight dropping back down into the 40s with light winds all day N 5-12 mph.

The weekend brings showers Saturday and storms Sunday. Temps are in the 50s tomorrow with partly sunny skies becoming cloudy through the early to mid afternoon and shower chances after 2 or 3pm. The showers will be on the lighter side tomorrow, but could be a nuisance for your College Football games in SE Lower Michigan tomorrow afternoon and early evening. We get a dry slot Saturday night and early Sunday.

Showers and storms could be on the stronger side Sunday. Warm air surges in with breezy conditions SW 10-20 mph  and highs heading back into the mid 60s. A cold front brings a Slight Chance for Severe Weather Sunday afternoon and evening. Keep an eye to the skies as you head out Sunday for concerns of hail, lightning, and damaging winds. Shower chances linger Monday, but things dry out as we head into Tuesday and Wednesday and conditions cool most of next week bringing highs only into the 40s midweek.
