Metro Detroit weather forecast: Scattered rain, thunderstorms Thursday

DETROITA warm start with cloud cover overhead and temps in the 60s to near 70 degrees as you head out.

Showers on radar mainly over our North Zone this morning and that area has been the target for rain since yesterday afternoon and evening. Most of Metro Detroit will see scattered rain and thundershowers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a few heavy downpours possible with the hit or miss activity.

It will stay mostly cloudy and warm between showers with highs heading into the low and mid 80s with humidity and dew points on the rise which will make it feel sticky. A cold front is moving through and you will feel a difference in the air by this evening.

Friday forecast

Showers are possible again midday Friday as another weak disturbance blows through the area tomorrow. The bigger story is the Friday cool down as highs will hang in the mid to maybe upper 70s with gusty winds NE 7-17 mph Gusting 25 mph at time. Don’t cancel your plans today or tomorrow as the showers will be widely scattered and some of us unfortunately won’t see the rain we need during the peak of a normally dry stretch of summer.

Weekend forecast

The weekend looks gorgeous with more sunshine wall to wall and temps just shy of 80 degrees Saturday and just above 80 degrees Sunday. The nights will cool into the 50s making for more great sleeping weather.
