Metro Detroit Weather: Humidity increasing Wednesday night

DETROIT – We haven't seen much of the sun today, but the humidity was punctual. And it will increase more tonight.

Expect mostly cloudy and muggy conditions from now through daybreak Thursday. Lows will drop only to the mid-and-upper 60s. Showers and thunderstorms that are in north and central lower Michigan will stay away from us tonight.

A cold front arrives from the north Thursday. That could bring a few showers to our backyards during the morning commute. Otherwise, chances of getting wet steadily increase into the afternoon. A thunderstorm is still possible, but it looks like any severe weather will stay south of us. Highs will be in the low-to-mid 80s, but humidity will remain.

Friday should stay dry, but the departing system will be just to our east, so it won't take much to throw a shower back at us. We'll be watching that closely. Humidity drops on Friday, however. Temperatures will max out in the upper 70s.

We are still in store for a stellar weekend. Plenty of sunshine, low humidity and temperatures near normal (in the low-to-mid 80s) will be features of both Saturday and Sunday.

And there's a LOT more sunshine in our 10 Day Forecast.
