Metro Detroit weather: Intense heat persists through Tuesday

Cold front comes through Wednesday

DETROIT – Summer is gone, but you wouldn't know it. In a few days, however, it will start to feel like fall.

Skies will remain mostly clear overnight in Metro Detroit as temperatures drop to the mid-60s.

More of the same is on the way for Tuesday. Hot and humid conditions will remain, with very little breeze. Highs will get close to 90 degrees.

That will be the end of the intense heat. A cold front will finally come through Wednesday. It will bring heat relief, but don't expect much rain. Highs will rise only to the upper 70s. The humidity will drop.

But because the front will slice through in the morning before temperatures build, a limited amount of rain will be produced. Eastside locations will be more likely to see showers, but any drops that fall won’t amount to much.

Then, temperatures will stay below normal -- yes, below normal -- through the weekend. In fact, mornings will get chilly by Saturday and Sunday with lows in the low to mid-40s. Find out how long that streak will last by checking our 10-day forecast.
