DETROIT – There’s a small chance for a sprinkle or light shower late this morning, but the main event comes later as showers and possibly a thunderstorm increase by mid-to-late afternoon, with highs in the upper 50s (14-15 degrees Celsius). East wind at 7-12 mph.
Showers and possible thunderstorms continue tonight, with lows in the upper 40s (9 degrees Celsius). East wind becomes south-southwest at 5-10 mph. Total rainfall could exceed one inch, especially in areas that get a thunderstorm.
Tuesday forecast:
Showers gradually diminish by midday Tuesday, then becoming windy. Highs in the mid to upper 50s (14 degrees Celsius). Wind becoming west at 15-25 mph with gusts to 30 or 35 mph. Mostly cloudy Tuesday night, with lows in the upper 30s (3-4 degrees Celsius).

And we have yet another batch of solid rain coming in Wednesday into Wednesday night, with highs in the low 50s and lows near 40 degrees (11 and 5 degrees Celsius, respectively). Rain showers Wednesday night may mix with wet snow late at night into Thursday. Highs in the upper 40s (9 degrees Celsius).
Thursday forecast:
Rain possibly mixed with wet snowflakes continue Thursday night, with lows in the mid 30s (2-3 degrees Celsius). Although sprinkles and wet snowflakes may persist into Friday morning, the bigger issue will be windy conditions and chilly highs only in the mid 40s (8 degrees Celsius).
Opening Day:
You'd better plan for some warm layers and hand warmers if you're going to Opening Day. Go Tigers! Fortunately, the sun returns just in time for our weekend, with mostly sunny skies on Saturday and partly cloudy skies on Sunday.
Highs should rebound into the mid 50s Saturday and the low 60s Sunday (13 and 17 degrees Celsius, respectively). I'm back from that special meteorology conference in Italy, and glad to be back in the "D!"
