Metro Detroit weather: Scattered showers, mild storms possible

Line of rain heading to Metro Detroit

DETROIT – So far, we've seen very few raindrops in our corner of the mitten, but expect a line to move through from northeast to southwest during the late afternoon and early evening. Plan on some scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder.

Skies will clear out around sunset, setting us up for a crisp evening ahead. Lows will range from the mid-50s in our Metro Zone to some upper 40s in our West and North Zones. Patchy fog might appear in some of those colder spots, as well.

Plenty of sunshine and low humidity will greet us Tuesday. Highs will make it into the low 80s by afternoon. In fact, for the rest of the work week, expect generally dry conditions with a mix of sun and clouds.

There's a slight chance of a stray sprinkle Wednesday afternoon. Highs will be close to normal for early August, in the low to mid-80s, with noticeable, but not unpleasant humidity.

Friday night and late Sunday, we'll get a better chance of scattered showers. The weekend looks good overall, with highs near 80 degrees and partly cloudy skies outside of those rain chances.
