Metro Detroit weather: Scattered Tuesday evening showers, higher temps ahead

Lows in the low 60s

DETROIT – Late Tuesday afternoon and evening will have scattered showers in Detroit and Southeast Michigan. The region needs the rain for September, but drier conditions are on the way for those show want them. Higher temps are coming, too.

Scattered light to moderate rain will fall on the Motor City area through dinnertime, Tuesday. Commuters and parents picking up their children from after-school activities or dropping them off must be careful on wet roads and use their low beams.

The Detroit Tigers are set to host the Oakland A's at Comerica Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Baseball fans will need their ponchos and patience when rain starts to fall.

Tuesday night will be drier after midnight. It remains cool to mild. Overnight lows will be in the low and mid 60s.

Rosh Hashanah is Wednesday. Sunset is at 7:34 p.m. ET. Before that, skies will be partly sunny. A warm front passes to the north, and summer-like air arrives. Highs will be in the low and mid 80s.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny . Thursday is the last full day of summer 2017. Highs will be near 85. Still very warm Friday, the first day of fall. The Autumnal Equinox is at 4:02 p.m. ET, Friday, with highs in the mid 80s.

More warmth Saturday and Sunday under blue skies. Highs in the low to mid 80s each day. The Lions play Atlanta at Ford Field Sunday.
