Metro Detroit weather: Midday showers possible

DETROIT – Our next round of showers and thunderstorms could be a flooding threat for parts of southeast Michigan.

A flood watch for Genesee, Lapeer and Sanilac counties has expired.

Even though we're not expecting severe storms, the rainfall moving over the same areas along a cold front could drop 1 inch of rain per hour.

After the early morning thundershowers move out, we may see a few showers around midday, but they won't amount to much. The afternoon hours are looking dry. Highs will only get to the low 80s. Humidity will also drop with the passage of that front.

Our weekend is looking mainly dry. Both Saturday and Sunday, we'll have chances of a late-day shower. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler with highs in the mid-70s.

Monday, there's still a chance of a shower. But highs will barely get to 70 degrees in the afternoon.

The 80s return with dry conditions by the middle of next week.
