Metro Detroit weather: Thunderstorm warnings expire; More storms possible

Hail, 60 mph wind gusts are possible in storms

DETROITUPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warnings issued for central and southern Lapeer, northeastern Oakland and northwestern Macomb counties have expired. 

Much-needed rain remains in Detroit's forecast today and tomorrow, but it could come in the form of dangerous thunderstorms, again. Sunnier, drier weather returns Saturday.

Thursday afternoon will be warm and muggy with highs in the low 80s. A nearby frontal boundary will be the spark for afternoon showers and thunderstorms. There is a marginal risk for strong to severe storms. Be on the lookout for heavy downpours, frequent lightning and damaging wind and hail.

The afternoon and evening rush hour will be wet, so drive safely and find any alternate routes around standing water.

Showers and storms will be scattered across the region Thursday evening with temps in the 70s.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy and stay warm and muggy. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

Friday will have morning and midday showers and storms ahead of a cold front. It will be breezy with highs in the upper 70s. Some heavy rain is possible ahead of lunchtime. Friday afternoon will be drier.

Saturday will be mostly sunny, warm and delightful Highs will be in the middle and upper 70s. Perfect car-wash weather.

Sunday will have more clouds with highs in the upper 70s. Showers return Sunday night and Monday. Monday's highs will be near 80 degrees.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny and warm with highs near 80 degrees.
