Metro Detroit weather: St. Patrick's Day snow

Quick inch or two possible

DETROIT – Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Will it be green or blue on the radar today? Blue is snow and it looks like Metro Detroit is in for a good burst of snow this afternoon.

Temps in the 20s this Friday morning warming into the mid 30s this afternoon. An approaching warm front may throw a few showers our way during the mid morning but the bulk of the action comes this afternoon. Conditions may become slick and dangerous for a couple of hours this afternoon as models show a batch of heavy snow capable of dropping a quick inch or two over Metro Detroit mid afternoon. This will greatly reduce visibility and make the roads snow covered and dangerous. Late afternoon and evening it’s more light snow mixing with some rain showers or drizzle in spots. Winds today will pick up into the afternoon SE 5-15 mph gusting near 20 mph.

Saturday

Saturday may start a little wet with that mix of flurries, light snow and drizzle through 2pm. Morning lows near freezing and then warming into the 40 degree range feeling colder with winds WSW 5-15 mph. The afternoon stays overcast to mostly cloudy but drying as we get into the late afternoon and evening.

Sunday

Sunday still looks to be the better weekend day with temps trying to boost into the mid 40s with sun and a few clouds and calm winds. Wet weather will be approaching again Sunday Night, but it should hold off until Monday.

It will be warm enough for rain Monday as we head back to work and back to school with temps in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees possible.
