Marginal Risk for severe weather this afternoon in SE Michigan

A couple of rounds of wet weather expected on your Tuesday around Metro Detroit with the first round moving in early this morning.

So, the commute will be slower as showers scoot through SE Lower Michigan before sunrise, becoming scattered showers through 9 a.m. Temps will warm into the low 80s quickly and it’s still humid with breezy conditions SW 10-20 mph gusting at times over 30 mph into the afternoon.

Marginal Risk for severe weather

That warm, moist air will meet up with a cool front this afternoon for another round of showers and storms. The extreme east side is under a Marginal Risk for severe weather later today including Downtown Detroit and down into Monroe County. But, most of the stronger storms will be south of us this afternoon. Showers will be widely scattered late afternoon and will be wrapping up by 7 p.m.

Wednesday forecast

Noticeably cooler air is moving in tonight and you’ll feel it on Wednesday. Most of Metro Detroit will wake with temps in the 50s tomorrow, while some will drop closer to the 40s. This will be the pattern all the way through the weekend. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid to maybe upper 70s with a big drop in humidity and cooler breezes WNW 5-15 mph. Skies will be mostly sunny early and become partly cloudy into the afternoon but dry.

Cooler conditions hang around to end this week with tons of sun around SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. It looks like the mid to upper 70s are setting up shop here through the weekend with comfortable sleeping weather overnight. You might be able to keep the AC off for most of the week and weekend starting tomorrow. You can track sky conditions and storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
