Cold start to 2013

DETROIT – Happy New Year! Temperatures will stay in the 20s Tuesday.

Skies will be overcast the first half of the day with lows in the low 20s.  The afternoon will see a bit of sun and highs in the middle to upper 20s.  The wind will blow from the northwest at 6 to 12 mph.

Warmer weather will be in Tampa, Florida where the Michigan Wolverines will tackle South Carolina in the Outback Bowl.  Game temperatures will be in the 70s.

The first night of 2013 will be colder with lows in the middle teens and fair skies.

Wednesday and Thursday will be a bid colder or, at least, feel that way.  Morning lows will be in the low teens and wind chills will be near zero.  Daytime highs will be just above 20 degrees.  Thursday has a slight chance of snow.

Friday and the weekend will not be as cold with highs closer to 30 or a little more.  Sunday will have another chance of snow.
