Severe Thunderstorm Watch dropped, but still stormy

Damaging winds, lightning, heavy rain and large hail expected

DETROIT - 3:58am ET - Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Detroit & most of Southeast Michigan has been dropped, but it will be a muggy stormy day.


3:00 am ET - Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect for Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne Counties until 5am.

Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for Macomb, Oakland and South St. Clair Counties have expired.


The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Macomb County, Oakland County and Southern St. Clair County. 

Around 1:40am Doppler Radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms were located along a line extending from Capac to Grand Blanc and moving southeast at 45 mph. Weather authorities say penny sized hail may also accompany these damaging winds.

As a precaution, you're asked to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business.
