Snow and extreme cold blanket metro Detroit

Transition from storm warning to wind chill warning

By Brandon Roux - Meteorologist, Segment Reporter/Producer

Most of us are waking up to 8 to 13 inches of fresh snow across SE Michigan Monday morning.

Some areas, like Jackson and Howell saw almost 16 inches of fresh snow.

Now, we go from a storm warning to a Wind Chill Warning.

Expect blowing and drifting on the snow covered roads and feels like temps -15 to -25 degrees through the afternoon.

View: Frostbite times with wind chill

Winds are gusty WNW  15-20 mph gusting to 30 mph at times.

We will see a bit of light snow through today as well.

It's lake enhanced snow with the stronger winds blowing off of Lakes Michigan and Huron. We may get another inch in spots.

The Wind Chill Warning continues all day Tuesday.

Air temps tomorrow morning will be -12 degrees with wind chills -30 to -40 degrees at times.

This is dangerous, dangerous stuff. Schools will likely get canceled again tomorrow. Highs may hit zero and light lake effect snow showers are likely.
