DETROIT - Spring continues to take a vacation Monday with cold air and snow in the forecast.

The big Denver snow storm has moved east, and it will move south of Southeast Michigan. However, it will be far enough north to give areas along and south of I-696 a chance of morning snow. Lows will be near 30, and accumulations will likely be 2 inches or less.

A trace to an inch will fall in northern Washtenaw County and northwestern Wayne County. Up to 2 inches is possible in southern Macomb County, the rest of Wayne and Washtenaw Counties (including Detroit), and Lenawee and Monroe Counties.

Anyone commuting to or through Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw or Wayne Counties must use caution while driving in slippery conditions. Everyone else will still need to use car heaters.

Monday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and chilly with highs near 40.

Monday night will be partly cloudy and cold with lows in the middle 20s.

Daytime highs to creep upward the rest of the week. Tuesday afternoon will be partly sunny with temps in the low 40s. Middle 40s will be achieved Wednesday and Thursday. The Motown area may make it into the upper 40s by Friday.
