Snowy morning drive with more on the way

Expect chilly conditions and snow

By Brandon Roux - Meteorologist, Segment Reporter/Producer

DETROIT - We are waking up to a fresh coating of snow after a clipper system moves through SE Michigan early this morning.

Most of us are seeing a coating of fresh to an inch or so with wind chilly conditions as well.

Temps are in the upper teens and wind chills will be falling from the single digits to subzero feels like weather as you head out.

Most of your New Year's Eve will be drying after a sloppy morning commute.

Expect mostly cloudy skies with highs near 20 degrees feeling much cooler.

West winds 10-20 mph.

Roads should be in better shape as we head through the day and as you head out for festivities at night.

More snow is heading our way Tuesday late and/or early Wednesday, New Year's Day.

This one will have more moisture, starting as light snow through the morning and stacking up throughout the day tomorrow.

Winds will be lighter but bundle up if you're heading out to the Winter Classic in Ann Arbor.

The snow becomes more intense late Wednesday and early Thursday with several inches of snow likely.

Many will see 3-5" by Thursday morning with less north of M 59 because it may take a while to get started in our Northern Counties.

Highs will be in the teens to low 20s Wednesday and Thursday.
