Metro Detroit weather: Some rain late, but generally mild Friday night

Lows near 40

DETROIT – Friday afternoon was like springtime in late fall for Detroit. Friday evening will continue to look and feel great with fair skies and relatively mild conditions.

Friday evening will be mostly clear with temperatures in the upper 40s. The Rink At Campus Martius is open for ice skaters. Weather is great for families reuniting and having fun outdoors.

A cold front is approaching, and it brings some rain. That moisture does not arrive until after midnight, though. Now, it remains above freezing across all of Southeast Michigan, from Lapeer, Sandusky and Pt. Huron to the Ohio border. Overnight lows will be near 40 degrees. Therefore, scattered light rain is possible after midnight.

Saturday will start off with scattered light rain in the Motown area. This includes Ann Arbor, so tailgaters to the big Michigan-Ohio State game will encounter some damp roads. More importantly, Wolverines fans must dress in layers because the warm weather is leaving. Kickoff is at noon ET, and rain will be ending. Highs will be in the mid-40s midday. During the afternoon, it gets colder. Temps fall to the 30s by the end of the day.

Sunday will be in the chilly 40s, too, with terrific travel-home weather in southern Michigan. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny.

Monday and Tuesday will be sunnier and fall-like. Highs will be in the middle and upper-40s. Wonderful weather for outdoor recess for students returning to school.
