Metro Detroit weather forecast: Summer-like weather continues as we welcome Fall

DETROIT – Happy Fall! The Autumnal Equinox happens officially today at 4:02 p.m. as we welcome Fall with a scorching summer-like day.

Patchy fog Friday morning is really only an issue in some rural areas with rolling hills and slightly cooler temperatures, but slow down if you find yourself in some light fog this morning. Temps are mainly in the mid 60s this morning under mostly clear skies and will warm into the upper 80s to near 90 degrees with light winds SSE 5-10 mph. We will likely see plenty of 90s today, even in our North Zone while some areas along the big lakes may stay slightly cooler.

Weekend forecast

The weekend should be hot and dry other than the summer humidity sticking around. Plenty of sunshine expected tomorrow with patchy morning fog and mostly sunny skies all afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 80s to 90 degrees both Saturday and Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Next week

Warm weather will stick around into next week with Monday and Tuesday still in the range of 85 to 90 degrees and mostly sunny. Wednesday will be our next chance for rain and thundershowers and it looks to be an unimpressive system bringing rain chances in the middle of next week.
