Weather forecast: Temps could hit 90 degrees again today in SE Michigan

DETROIT – One more day of very warm air which is the case this Tuesday morning.

Temps are in the 60s to low 70s as you head out under partly cloudy skies.

The humidity has leveled off, which means it will be a bit humid today but no worse than the last couple of days. A cold front is on its way, but may not bring our relief until midday tomorrow.  With hazy sun and partly cloudy skies, highs this afternoon will be in the neighborhood of 90 degrees and near record warmth one last time. The Record High Temperature in Detroit today is 91 degrees set back in 1998. I would say we have a pretty good shot of tying or breaking the record this afternoon.

Wednesday forecast

Wednesday brings cooler temperatures to Metro Detroit through the late morning and afternoon with morning lows unaffected and still warm in the mid to upper 60s. But afternoon highs will back down to near 80 degrees which is still about 10 degrees above average. The cool front passing through will bring a few scattered showers around lunch time tomorrow, but it’s a mostly dry, cold front.

Thursday cooldown

The real relief comes Thursday and Friday as the cooler air from the west and north settles in for a few days. We should end this week with lows near 50 degrees Thursday and highs only in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees with sunshine. Friday morning starts in the 40s to low 50s and we will see some scattered showers through the middle of the day and highs only in the upper 60s to end the work and school week.

The weekend looks very comfy with a mix of sun and clouds and dry air keeping mornings cool and afternoons in the mid 60s to near 70 degrees. You can track sky conditions, and our next storm chances with our Local4Casters app.
