Metro Detroit weather forecast: Wet and mild

DETROIT – A cloudy start with some areas around Metro Detroit dealing with patchy fog and temps mainly in the mid 30s as you head out.

There are some flakes flying in our North Zone, up in the Thumb Region and that will likely transition to some light wintry mix this morning. A warm front is moving through and will stall out keeping our rain chances alive through the day. We should see a better chance for light rain showers through the late morning and afternoon as highs settle in the low 40s with winds SW 7-12 mph.

Tuesday forecast

More cloud cover than sunshine Tuesday and mild temperatures hang on one more day. We should start in the low and mid 30s with breezes picking up in the overnight keeping a fog threat away. Those pesky breezes SW 10-20 mph tomorrow will help warm us into the mid 40s and mostly cloudy skies, but dry around SE Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario. A weak cool front moves through Tuesday night.

Temps take a quick dip Wednesday and Thursday but both days should be mostly dry. Look for sunshine Wednesday with lows in the upper 20s and highs in the low and mid 30s. Thursday should be a touch warmer in the mid and upper 30s. Look for a wintry mix Friday to start the day, and then spotty rain showers throughout the day Friday with highs back in the mid 40s.

That warm air will be leaving throughout the day Saturday with temps falling back down through the 30s. We should see snow showers Saturday and Sunday which is Christmas Eve. We should a recovery of cool air and enough snow to keep it a White Christmas around Metro Detroit.
