COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Commerce Township woman will debut her new book on Saturday at Walled Lake Northern High School located at 6000 Bogie Lake Road from 1 - 4 p.m.
Sandy Richards wrote the book about the devastating loss of her 16-year-old son, Tyler Richards, who was killed in a multiple car accident on Bogie Lake Road 10 years ago.

The book is written through Tyler's point of view.
The launch of the book titled "A Far Cry...From Home ~ A Mother's Journey of Love, Loss and Healing...through the Eyes of an Angel" is happening on the 10 year anniversary of Tyler's death.
"My story, told from Tyler's unique point of view (through the eyes of an angel), is a non-fiction memoir of love, loss and the continual healing process. The decision to have Tyler narrate our story was a simple one: he is the only person with true, first-hand knowledge of every shockwave, teardrop, revelation and re-birth that rocked our world," Richards said. "While writing this book, I traced my steps through the grieving process and have grown in so many aspects of my life. I see rays of hope glimmering through the devastation and healing is gradually mending the countless pieces of this mother's broken heart."
Sandy's goal is to reach out to other grieving families as they try to deal with life without their loved ones.
Tim Lynch Jr. of Lynch and Sons Funeral Home wrote the Foreward which is featured in the book and includes journal entries, notes and poems written by students, friends and others who reached out to Sandy during her family's tragedy.
"I promised Tyler that I would not let his memory fade," Sandy said. "A memorial scholarship was established in 2003 through the Legacy Scholarship Funds organization in Walled Lake, MI. I am proud to select and meet the recipients as we award the scholarships to two Walled Lake Northern High School students each year. A portion of the book sales will be donated to the Tyler Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund."
Sandy will meet and greet attendees at the book debut on Saturday and will do a reading from the book at 2 p.m.
