Force 4 Good: Super hero kid helps homeless

8-year-old on mission collect donations,

Ewan Drum is an 8-year-old with a big heart and a mission to help the homeless.

One Saturday a month, Ewan and his family load up their van with donations and head down to Roosevelt Park in Detroit to pass out food and clothing to those who need it.

"He came to us one night, last May, and said, 'When I am a teenager, I want to dress up like a superhero and take food and clothes and sun block and DVD players to the homeless,'" said Ewan's mom, Angela Drum.

With his parent's help, Ewan created Super Ewan Inc., a non-profit organization that collects donations for the homeless.

"I was thinking it would be a real big help to people who did not have homes, or shelters or anything," Ewan said. "The homeless people get in a line and start coming through. We give them bags of lunches and goodies and ice cold water."

The biggest encouragement for Ewan's mission has come from the community who have stepped up to help.

"We've had the Boy Scouts collect food for us, their food drive, all of those donations were given to us," said Angela Drum. "We've had friends and neighbors from all the different subdivisions swing by. So it has just been great to see people come together."

Super Ewan Inc. is growing fast, too.

"It kind of snowballed and we are just going with it and it is a great thing," said Angela Drum. " It all comes from a child's dream to help people and it is an inspiration to for our family too."

Being a Force 4 Good in the community is a privilege to Ewan and his family.

Ewan says his goal is to help all homeless around the world. For more information about how you can help, click here.
