Meijer stores expanding convenient online ordering option

Orders can be placed between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

DETROIT – The popular grocery chain, Meijer, is unveiling a convenient feature for more shoppers in Detroit who don’t have much time to spend at the physical stores.

Four more additional Meijer stores in Detroit now have the option to use the new convenient shopping option called ‘Meijer Curbside’, which lets customers shop online and pick up their groceries curbside without ever leaving their vehicles.

Meijer has now added its Meijer Curbside feature to their Rochester Hills, Brighton, Fort Gratiot and Lapeer super centers and plans on completing its Southeastern Michigan plan by October.

The Grand Rapids, Mich. based retailer says Meijer Curbside will be offered at 33 different Meijer locations in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Illinois by the end of this year.

Meijer also plans to feature their curbside feature at locations in Lansing, Indianapolis and Fort Wayne.

“The way customers shop for food continues to change and our efforts to expand the number of stores where Meijer Curbside is offered is one more way we are bringing more convenience to our customers,” said Michael Ross, vice president of Digital Shopping and Customer Marketing. “Providing an all-encompassing service that offers grocery, health and beauty and general merchandise items, and allows customers to pick up orders in as little as a few hours is a game changer for many of our shoppers.”

The Meijer Curbside program enlists 15 trained team members at each store to hand pick every item out in a customer’s online order. Team members will also have knowledge in choosing the best available produce and meats, and to be aware that some customers have personal preferences and special instructions in their order.

Meijer Curbside option let’s shopper shift through more than 80.000 of the most commonly purchased grocery and general merchandise items online including health and beauty product’s, toys, pet food, and even Keurig machines.   

The easy and almost effortless shopping option is becoming very popular amongst busy parents and college students, and orders at the Ann Arbor store has more than doubled in the weeks following the launch of the curbside option.

“Balancing full work weeks and weekly grocery shopping has never been easier” Melissa Wolfe, a busy school teacher and Utica resident said. “Curbside saves us at least 2 to 3 hours every weekend “

Shoppers can place their orders online and select a pickup time between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m., daily. Orders can be placed up to five days in advance, and pickup can be done within three hours after the order is made.

Dedicated refrigerators and freezers will keep the groceries fresh until the customer comes for pickup.

Service costs vary by location but customers can expect to pay between $4.95 and $6.95 per order.

Shoppers at the Rochester Hills, Brighton, and Forest Gratiot stores can enjoy free Meijer Curbside service for free through July 31.
