Senior Powers Days on Detroit's Belle Isle

DETROIT – Senior Power Days on Detroit's Belle Isle is a series of 11 events for southeast Michigan seniors.

The events will be held on Wednesdays from July 8 to December 16.

Seniors from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties will learn how to be safe in their home and neighborhoods through information from regional law enforcement officials and interactive workshops.
"As a longtime senior advocate, I know the impact of crime against seniors throughout the region" said Stephanie Donaldson, spokesperson of Senior Power Days and a part-time DNR employee." "The Senior Safety Summit gives our seniors information that will help keep them safe and secure, especially in their own homes. This event opens up direct dialog with the law enforcement officials charged with keeping seniors safe and the senior public who rely on those services."

  • Wednesday, September 23- Special Detroit Icon Concert (Detail's to be announced in July 2015)
  • Wednesday, October 7, 12 pm - 3 pm- Jazz on the Isle in the Casino
  • Wednesday, October 21, 10 am - 2 pm- Senior Arts & Crafts Day
  • Wednesday, November 11, 10 am - 2 pm - Veterans Day Celebration
  • Wednesday, November 18, 11 am - 3 pm - Interfaith Day
  • Wednesday, December 16, 11 am - 3 pm - Holiday & Senior Recognition Luncheon

Registration is not required but it is encouraged that all seniors arrive early to get prime seating. Continental Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all attendees.

Recreation passports are required to get on to Belle Isle. 500 recreation passports, which can be used to access all of Michigan's 102 state parks, including Belle Isle, are being provided by the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Grand Prix will be distributed to seniors. The Recreation Passport is good until the vehicle owner's next license plate renewal date. Recreation Passports are available for $11 for Michigan-registered vehicles. They can be purchased at the visitor contact station, located just past MacArthur Bridge, and provide access to all of Michigan's 102 state parks and recreation areas, with many located in the Detroit area.
