More than 2 million dehumidifiers are being recalled amid reports of fires and property damage totaling $2 million.
The 12 brands of dehumidifiers, all manufactured by China's Gree Electric Appliances, are prone to overheating, smoking and even catching fire, according to the U.S. Consumer Production Safety Commission.
The recall involves 20-, 25-, 30-, 40-, 45-, 50-, 65- and 70-pint dehumidifiers with brand names Danby, De'Longhi, Fedders, Fellini, Frigidaire, Gree, Kenmore, Norpole, Premiere, Seabreeze, SoleusAir and SuperClima. The devices were all manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, of China, according to a press release from the CPSC.

About 2.2 million of the dehumidifiers were sold in the United States and 52,500 were sold in Canada.
Consumers are being advised to immediately turn off and unplug the dehumidifiers and contact Gree for a full refund.
