The magazine only analyzed models that meet its own criteria in order to be a recommended model.

After all the analysis, the list was sorted based on the percentage of savings off the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail price (MSRP).

Consumer Reports says, not surprisingly, the best discounts are on remaining 2012 models and vehicles that are about to be replaced, such as the Chevrolet Silverado.

Top list of 2012 models:

Mazda 6 with 26 percent off MSRP.

Nissan Maxima with 22 percent off MSRP.

Nissan Altima with 19 percent off MSRP.

Top list of 2013 models:

Chevrolet Silverado with 14 percent off MSRP.

GMC Sierra 1500 with 13 percent off MSRP.

Ford F-150 12 percent off MSRP.
