Your guide to getting comfortable in the air

You probably won't want to pay for a seat on a flight to one of these airports again. Here are the scariest U.S. airports, in no particular order, as compiled by Rachael Prescott.

You've seen the stories about passengers fighting over a few inches of personal space. Are there any tricks to finding the most comfortable seat possible on your next flight? Travel experts at CNBC say there are a few steps you can take to maximize your comfort.

First, you can pay to upgrade to a better location in the cabin. However, not all of the "plus" seats are created the same. Experts say you should do some research on seat dimensions. There are a few websites that specialize in finding better seats. (see links at bottom of this article)

Other ideas, stick to the front of the plane and avoid the back. CNBC reports the last give rows of seats can be up to an inch narrower. Also, watch out for seats ahead of the exit row, they may not recline.

If at first you don't succeed at finding a seat you like then try, try again. As you get closer to your flight date, some passengers may receive upgrades, and that might open up a better seat for you.
