Mislabeled chocolate-covered raisin forces recall due to peanut allergy concerns

Chocolate-covered raisins sold at some Kroger stores recalled, peanut allergy risk

Containers of chocolate covered raisins have been recalled because there could be peanuts inside.

American Importing Co, Inc. recalled one lot of Amport Milk Chocolate Raisins because they may contain peanuts.

While people who have an allergy or sensitivity to peanuts could encounter a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat this product, there have no reports of reactions or illnesses.

The Minneapolis-base company issued the recall after a container of Milk Chocolate Peanuts was mistakenly labeled as Milk Chocolate Raisins. It was distributed to Albertsons, Farm Fresh/Supervalu, Hy-Vee and The Kroger Co. stores in the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and West.

The recall affects the 12oz Clear Tubs with UPC: 0 71725 71190 8 and Lot Code: 078X344.  The products also have a best buy date of 12-19-13.

The product can be returned for a full refund.  Consumers can call American Importing Company for more information at  855-273-0466. They should mention the "Milk Chocolate Raisin Recall."
