DETROIT – Detroit Mayor Dave Bing released a statement Friday about Monday's fireworks display and the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Monday is an opportunity for our region to celebrate one of the greatest fireworks displays in the country and internationally. I want everyone to come to downtown Detroit and enjoy the fireworks and be assured that we will provide a safe and wholesome environment for this regional family event.
I am working collaboratively on a regional events plan that will ensure the ongoing success of our regional events, including The Parade Company-produced Target Fireworks and America's Thanksgiving Parade.
I have every confidence that our plan and strategy to provide the necessary funding with the support of the private sector will work. We continue to hold meetings with my administration, business leaders, and potential sponsors to push forward my plan for regional support and participation.
About the fireworks:
Detroit's skyline will once again dance with lights and music as The Parade Company and Target bring you the 54th Annual Target Fireworks. Scheduled to begin at 10:06pm, the waterways between Detroit and Windsor will once again serve as the venue for the largest international fireworks show of its kind.
