Your heart may be aging faster than you.

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention finds most Americans' hearts are older than their chronological age.

Researchers used an online calculator associated with a large, long-term set of data called the Framingham Heart Study.

They found three out of four adults have older hearts, which can raise their risk for heart attack and stroke.

People living in the southeast were more likely to have older hearts, as were African-Americans.

Overall, women's hearts averaged five years older, while men's hearts were about eight years older.

The calculator is meant to help doctors show patients how they can bring down their heart risks – such as quitting smoking or controlling high blood pressure.
