California had the most, followed by Florida, Texas, Washington and Pennsylvania. Ohio had the 10th most.

The book, titled "UFO Sightings Desk Reference: United States of America 2001-2015," takes a deep look at UFO sightings in America, using data from the National UFO Reporting Center and the Mutual UFO Network.

Co-author Cheryl Costa, who also writes for the Syracuse New Times, said every single county in the U.S. had at least one UFO report during the time range.

"I found that the majority of sighting reports where by people who were very sincere, and it had energized them to find a place to report what they saw," she said. "They wanted to get this off their chest."

According to NUFORC, the most recent UFO reports come from Monroe, Grand Rapids, Allendale, Grant, Frankenmuth and Wyoming.
