It’s your last chance for this Downtown Detroit shopping experience

The pop-up shops near Campus Martius will close in one week

Since the beginning of the holiday season, the Downtown Detroit Markets at Cadillac Square have welcomed guests for a unique shopping experience. More than a dozen shops opened up and sell items that range from popcorn to candles to clothing. Two of the vendors joined “Live In The D” host Tati Amare and guest-host Aaron “Goose” Seller to showcase what their shops are all about and what the experience has been like for them.

Halie Conyers, owner of Halie & Co., and Lakeshia King, owner of Verbatim, both said that the experience of having a storefront in Detroit is something that any business owner dreams of. “It’s been an amazing time. Just being able to share in the memories and the joy of Detroiters coming out and marveling at our stores and coming in and out, relating with our products. It’s been absolutely amazing,” said King.

Conyers shared more about her company Halie & Co. which is a handmade jewelry and candle company. She specializes in handcrafted gold jewelry, along with room, home, and car fragrance. “We also do the permanent jewelry experience. So, you come in, pick a chain, and we can make a bracelet, anklet, or necklace that we size right to you,” said Conyers.

Verbatim is the name of King’s business which prints empowering messages on wearables like t-shirts, sweatshirts, and hats. King says, “We do this primarily for women who feel that they are silenced. Often times we don’t get to share our journey through life and our message, so we want to be able to wear our emotions on our sleeves.”
