Level up your child’s school experience

Detroit Public Schools Community District is holding a high school expo

When you think of picking a school, you don’t have to wait until college. Detroit Public Schools Community District offers choices to help the children pursue their passion at an early age.

There are 106 schools in the Detroit Public Schools Community District, explained Dr. Lisa Reynolds, the principal of Detroit School of Arts. She said it is the largest school district in the state of Michigan.

Level Up is a process that gives eighth graders an opportunity to find out more about the different high schools in the district, so they can find the right fit for them. Students can learn about the variety of career and Tech Ed. programs. A Level Up High School Expo is being held this weekend to give students and their families a chance to meet principals and staff members. The expo will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6th at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School.

“Every school has something special to offer, and each kid has something special inside of them that we want to pull out. So this is an opportunity for all of that to be housed in one place and families get to engage to make their best choice for the upcoming school year,” Dr. Reynolds said.
