This Detroit spot will be celebrating Opening Day all day

You can find Tigers inspired ice cream at this local spot

Opening Day is just around the corner and while there are festivities happening inside the Comerica Park, you can also celebrate within the neighborhood around the stadium. Just a few blocks away in Parker’s Alley, the Shinola Hotel will be celebrating the local “unofficial holiday” all day long. Chef Cory Barberio, executive chef and managing partner of the Shinola Hotel, appeared on “Live in the D” to give a sneak peak of what to expect this Friday.

For those not familiar with Parker’s Alley, it is named after Thomas Parker, who was one of the first black land owners here in Detroit. The alley is filled with local retail shops and places to get food and beverages.

At the party, you can expect fried chicken and chicken sandwiches from Penny Reds located inside of the American Beer Hall, and smash style burgers and milkshakes at Mister Dibs. To support the Tigers spirits, there will also be a limited edition Opening Day vanilla soft serve, with Tigers’ colors, served in a Detroit Tigers hat. It’s only available on Friday.
