Have you eaten a Döner Kebab or Chevapi?

Dishes are served at Balkan House in Metro Detroit

A taste of Europe is being served up in Metro Detroit at a restaurant called Balkan House.

“We are specialized in a mixture of Balkan and German style street food. Those two are very close together and very close to my heart,” said Duma Ekic from Balkan House. Ekic explained that she was originally born in Bosnia and immigrated to Germany, and she wanted to share her story and the food in our community.

One of the dishes that Balkan House is best known for is their Döner Kebab. It’s made with lamb, beef, chicken, or falafel stuffed in their homemade bread, with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, red carpet, and a special sauce topped with Turkish spice. Another item on the menu is Chevapi, which is seasoned sausage links inside their homemade bread.

Balkan House has locations in Hamtramck and Ferndale. They also have food trucks and offer catering. Watch the video above to see the Döner Kebab and Chevapi served at Balkan House.
