Buick kicks off Auto Show with unveiling

DETROIT – Buick kicked off the 2015 North American International Auto Show early Sunday night with a total surprise.

General Motors' Buick brand is coming off five straight years of growth and is looking to maintain momentum with an elegant concept that expresses elegance from Buick's past and future.

An a cappella group from NBC's The Sing-Off harmonized the new Buick Avenir concept into its debut and the choice was no accident.

Buick designers found their inspiration for the flagship sedan concept in music.

Avenir means future in French, and the new wings on the classic waterfall grill are an overture to what's ahead for Buick.

The sweeping elegant lines atop 21-inch wheels end with a crescendo from the 1930s a beautiful boat-tail. It was designed in Australia.

Buick is also getting its first convertible in 25 years, and the first outside Chevy since Pontiac folded. Cascada means waterfall and it's from GM's European Opel unit.
