LIVONIA, Mich. -

These days it's hard to go on Facebook and not see a video of someone pouring ice water over their head in the name of a good cause.

The ice bucket challenge has caught fire, helping to raise an incredible $62.5 million for ALS research.

That's what brought more than 700 people to Clarenceville High School Sunday evening.

Last week Tim Shaw, a former Tennessee Titan in the NFL, visited his former high school team to tell them about his new challenge.

Shaw was recently diagnosed with ALS, and it comes at a time when the awareness is at an all-time high. He played football at the high school in Livonia, and said he now knows how many friends he has there.

Shaw could not attend Sunday night's quickly arranged event but his mom and dad were there to represent him.
