MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A fatal crash has claimed the life of a 69-year-old man in Monroe County.

The incident occurred on Monday (April 22) at 5:19 p.m. when the 69-year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida, was driving a maroon 2014 Ford F-150 pick-up truck northwest on Enrico Fermi Drive in Frenchtown Township.

While the vehicle was in motion, officials say the Ford left the roadway to the east, traveled over railroad tracks, and entered a field for unknown reasons.

The vehicle then continued in motion, traveling in a southeast direction and entering a drainage ditch before coming to a complete stop.

Officials say that the Florida resident was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, but the airbags did not deploy.

Police say the man was transported to Corewell Health Hospital in Trenton, where he was pronounced deceased. The crash remains under investigation.
